After the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC)  in November 2012, China’s development has entered a new era. In the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC in October this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping systematically reviewed the great changes in the first decade of the new era and pointed out that over the past ten years, the CPC Central Committee had led the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to adopt a number of strategic measures, develop a range of transformative practices, make a series of breakthroughs and landmark advances, and we had secured historic achievements and seen historic changes in the cause of the Party and the country, and taken China on a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects.

Over the decade, China has painted a splendid and colourful picture of high-quality development. China’s economic aggregate exceeded 100 trillion yuan and per capita GDP exceeded USD12,000. China contributed over 30% to world economic growth for many years. China lifted over 100 million people in rural areas out of poverty and achieved a historic resolution to the problem of absolute poverty. Per capita disposable income of residents increased by nearly 80%. China moved up significantly on the Global Innovation Index with a series of major innovation achievements such as the Chang’e-5 lunar probe, Beidou Navigation Satellite System, Tianwen-1 Mars probe and manned deep-sea submersible Jiaolong. China’s total value of trade in goods and services has ranked first globally for two consecutive years since 2020, and two-way investment has been in the front rank of the world.

“An Extraordinary Decade of China in the New Era” International Exhibition tells the fantastic stories taking place over the past 10 years in China’s new era. It records how the Chinese people pursue their dreams through unremitting efforts, and displays how the Chinese people and people around the world work together to tide over difficulties and promote common progress. I am assured that this exhibition will provide you with a better understanding of China and the Communist Party of China.
